Bayon Face

The serene stone face of Bayon temple, in the ancient city of Angkor Thom outside Siem Reap, Cambodia — the gateway city to one of the greatest concentrations of temples on earth, including Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world. I saw eighteen temples in three days there. Bayon was one of only two that stayed with me. Four faces per tower, 216 in total. Each one different. Each one watching.
