Lady in the Wind

Deep inside a Navajo-guided tour of Lower Antelope Canyon, the stone divides into two temperatures — the near wall cool and violet in shadow, the far wall burning orange where the sun reaches it. The Navajo call this formation Lady in the Wind. No beam and no trick of timing: just sandstone, and light that has bounced off something else before it gets to you. The desert does not ask permission to be extraordinary.
